Senior Afternoon Tea Program
We are a big family. We are the Tian-Jin Family.

Since 2012, Tian-Jin Temple has established a ‘Happy Hour Afternoon Tea’ event, warmly inviting neighbors from the surrounding community to participate. Every Saturday afternoon, young volunteers, students, and librarian from the Burnaby Library join in to make the event colorful and diverse. Everyone sits together, happily drinking tea, chatting, and playing games. Unknowingly, as time passes, neighbors have become a part of the Tian-Jin Temple family, actively participating in charity and maintenance activities organized by the temple.

Taiwan’s Sanli TV station (starting at 40:45) came to the temple for an interview, where the elderly expressed their gratitude on camera, thanking Tian-Jin Temple for establishing the afternoon tea event, which allowed them to integrate into this big family and added joy to their later life. The hosts of Tian-Jin Temple, Master Chen and Master Yu, as well as the volunteer Meiyin, the person in charge of the afternoon tea event, also often care about their personal lives, providing timely advice and comfort when the elderly seek help and guidance.

Tian-Jin Temple hopes more compassionate partners will join us, combining everyone’s strength to plan more meaningful charity events. Together, we strive to follow the four maxims of Kuan Kung: ‘Read good books, speak good words, do good deeds, be good people,’ as our practical life goals, extending the seeds of kindness and contributing to society!”
