2023 Annual Fahui Ceremony
The Spring “Fahui Ceremony” will be held from Fri, May 19 to Sun, May 21, 2023.
The Fahui is an annual event for temple guests to pay respects to their ancestors and deceased family members or loved ones. Over the course of three days, guests congregate to chant sutras and perform Taoist rituals under the leadership of Temple Master Chen Mingna. During this time, the rituals also call for favorable weather, national peace, dispelling of calamities, resolution of grievances, blessings and longevity, preservation of life, and the release of ancestors or deceased loved ones from suffering.
Guests are invited to visit the temple and light incense during the weekend, participate in the chanting, and join the festivity that takes place on the afternoon of the last day. If you’d like to invite your ancestors or deceased loved ones to the service, you can sign up for a number of paid options. You can also donate to the different offerings, including floral arrangements, rice offerings, and vegetarian meals. All imperishable food items will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank after the event. Please call the temple to learn more.
